The Janky Heist (ðə ʤeɪnkiː ˈhiːɪst):
A botched attempt by digital artists Janky & Guggimon to rob Christie’s Auction House resulting in 9,240 unique SUPERPLASTIC NFTs.
The first NFTs on Shopify
Working in tandem with the talented 3d artists at SUPERPLASTIC, we built a custom render pipeline to combine 22 different bodies, heads and kicks to create all the NFTs along with their metadata. These NFTs were sold in a format inspired by a reverse Japanese auction and were the first NFTs sold on Shopify. We also built a custom secondary marketplace using the OpenSea API.
Auctions & slots & airdrops, oh my!
SUPERPLASTIC always toys with sale mechanics and adds unique rarity traits to both their physical and digital collectibles. The first 8 NFTs were designed in collaboration with artists such as Gucci Ghost and Alex Pardee and sold in a 1-of-1 auction on Christie’s Auction House.
We worked with Superplastic to gamify the sale through:
A slot-machine style UI with dynamic prices
Golden Jankyz won by random buyers after checkout
Airdropping Complete Originals for collecting all parts of the original 22 Jankyz
Airdropping the ever coveted PRPL Hazes which grants the owner access to GAWD Tier SUPERPLASTIC rewards
A custom secondary market Janky Marketplace
